Wait time refers to the amount of time a carrier on the Mothership Carrier Network must wait at pickup or delivery before the customer begins incurring additional fees. To keep shipments running smoothly, Mothership includes a standard 20-minute required wait time window at every pickup and delivery stop. Fees are calculated based on the additional wait time and vary based on the type of shipment.
Below is everything you need to know about how wait time works on the Mothership Carrier Network.
Wait time fees:
Mothership Carrier Network Same-Day LTL - 20 minutes free, $45 per hour
Mothership Carrier Network Same-Day Volume LTL - 30 minutes free, $45 per hour
Mothership Carrier Network Same-Day Dedicated Box Truck - 30 minutes free, $45 per hour
Mothership Carrier Network Same-Day Dedicated 53' Truck - 60 minutes free, $45 per hour
CFS: $45 flat fee and first 45 minutes free, then $7 per 10 mins
Additional charges may also be incurred if extra labor and time are required to deliver the shipment, and will be billed as adjustment charges.
What happens if the carrier has to wait longer than 20 minutes?
If a carrier is unable to begin loading or unloading after the initial 20 minutes, additional wait time charges may apply.
These charges help compensate carriers for time spent waiting beyond what’s required to complete your shipment. Extra wait time is billed in increments and will appear on your invoice as an adjustment charge.
Why does additional wait time result in extra charges?
Longer delays can impact a carrier’s ability to complete other scheduled work. Additional wait time charges ensure:
Fair compensation for time spent waiting
Better schedule reliability across the network
Improved pickup and delivery predictability for all customers
How can I avoid wait time charges?
To minimize delays:
Make sure your shipment is packed, staged, and ready before the scheduled pickup.
Confirm your facility’s dock hours, break schedules, and receiving policies.
Provide accurate contact information and special instructions.
Ensure there is clear access for the carrier and equipment being used.
The more prepared your team is, the faster the carrier can complete the stop.
Where will I see wait time charges?
Any additional wait time will appear on your invoice as an adjustment charge.
