Residential pickup now available on LTL | 2026-10-28
You can now book LTL pickups at homes. The residential charge is included in your quote up front, so you won't get a rebill later.
Release Date: 2026-10-28
You can now select Residential pickup when you quote LTL shipments. Use it when freight is picked up at a house, apartment, condo, farm or a business run from a home. Nine National LTL Partner Carriers support it, and the residential charge is included in your quote.
What changed
Residential pickup on LTL
- Select Residential pickup on single shipments in the dashboard, the API or bulk quote sheets.
- Supported carriers: ABF, Central Transport, Custom Companies, Forward Air, Old Dominion, Roadrunner, Saia, TForce and XPO.
- Carriers that don't pick up at homes aren't quoted when Residential pickup is selected.
- Addresses we recognize as homes get Residential pickup selected automatically.
- Not available for multi-ship, 53 ft trucks or local shipments.
Liftgate included by default
- Selecting Residential pickup also selects Liftgate, since most homes have no dock.
- Forward Air, Saia and Roadrunner add a liftgate to every residential pickup, so their quotes include it even if you remove Liftgate.
Why this matters
Carriers charge more to pick up at a home. If a home pickup is booked as commercial, the carrier can add that charge later as a rebill. Selecting Residential pickup puts the cost in your quote before you book.
How it works
- Go to Ship → Single Shipments.
- Enter the pickup address and select Residential pickup if it isn't already selected.
- Keep Liftgate selected unless the freight can be loaded by hand at the curb.
- Pick a rate. Only carriers that pick up at homes are shown.
What you need to do
- Select Residential pickup whenever the pickup is at a home. It can't be added after booking.
- Residential pickups are curbside. Have the freight ready at ground level and someone available at pickup.
- Check that heavy or long pieces fit on a liftgate before booking.
- Contact your account team if you have questions about whether a specific shipment qualifies.
