Extended-length freight now supported on the Mothership Local Network | 2026-09-22
You can now book eligible local shipments measuring up to 144 inches in length or width. Extended-length freight must be shipped dock-to-dock, with the shipper and receiver responsible for loading and unloading.
What changed
We’ve increased the maximum supported length and width for eligible shipments booked through the Mothership Carrier Network.
Handling units can now measure up to:
- 144" L × 94" W × 94" H, or
- 94" L × 144" W × 94" H
The maximum supported height remains 94 inches.
Previously, every freight dimension was limited to 94 inches during booking.
Why this matters
This update allows customers to quote and book more extended-length freight directly through the Mothership platform. It reduces the need to contact Support or request an exception when a handling unit exceeds the previous 94-inch length or width limit.
How it works
Enter the exact weight and dimensions of each handling unit when requesting a Local or Direct quote.
Extended-length freight is supported for dock-to-dock shipments only. Both the pick-up and delivery locations must have loading docks and the equipment needed to load and unload the freight.
Drivers are not responsible for loading or unloading extended-length shipments. Liftgate service is not available when a handling unit exceeds 94 inches in length or width.
What you need to do
- Enter accurate dimensions for every handling unit.
- Confirm that both locations have loading docks.
- Make sure the shipper and receiver can load and unload the freight without driver assistance.
- Do not select liftgate service for freight exceeding 94 inches in length or width.
- Contact your account team if you have questions about whether a shipment qualifies.
