We’ve released two improvements to make payment flows in the Marketplace smoother, clearer, and easier to resolve — both before checkout and during payment attempts.

1. Low Balance Warning for Terms Customers

Customers using payment terms will now see a dismissible toast banner when their remaining balance drops below 20%.

What it does:

  • Warns customers early to prevent failed checkouts

  • Links directly to past-due invoices for quick resolution

  • Returns customers directly to the quote they were working on after payment

  • Banner persists until dismissed or the balance issue is resolved

This gives terms customers better visibility and helps prevent unexpected payment failures at checkout.

2. Enhanced Payment Failure Messaging at Checkout

We’ve upgraded checkout with clear, user-friendly explanations when a card is declined, replacing cryptic payment processor codes.

What’s new:

  • Top Stripe decline codes mapped to straightforward, plain-language messages

  • Clear next steps to resolve the issue

  • Banner stays visible until dismissed

Example:

  • Stripe code: insufficient_funds

  • Customer message: “Please use an alternative payment method or ensure sufficient funds are available before retrying.”

This makes troubleshooting faster and reduces friction for customers completing a payment.

Impact

These updates provide:

  • Better visibility into low-term balance issues

  • Faster resolution of failed payments

  • Clear, actionable checkout messages

  • Fewer failed checkouts and reduced customer frustration

What to do next

No action is required.

  • Terms customers will see the low-balance banner when applicable.

  • All customers will automatically receive the enhanced checkout messages if a payment fails.
