# Storage charge

## What is a storage charge?

A storage charge is a fee for having to store a shipment, typically because it is undeliverable for a given amount of time after the shipment has arrived at the destination terminal.

For local shipments on the [Mothership Carrier network](https://help.mothership.com/what-is-the-mothership-carrier-network?hsLang=en), if we need to store your freight, you will receive a $35 charge for every 24 hours it is stored.

For non-local shipments booked with [National LTL Partner Carriers](https://help.mothership.com/who-are-motherships-national-ltl-partner-carriers?hsLang=en), charges for storage vary by carrier. These charges will come as [rebills](https://help.mothership.com/what-is-a-rebill-and-how-can-i-avoid-it?hsLang=en).
