# Is my freight covered by insurance?

## How Mothership makes sure your cargo is covered

### Is my freight insured, and what does FreightProtect™ cover?

Yes. **FreightProtect™ is applied automatically at checkout and reimburses 100% of your declared value**, with claims approved in as little as 24 hours. You can opt out and rely on the carrier's insurance instead (carrier claims can take up to 120 days). Verified network carriers carry cargo coverage up to **$100,000 per occurrence**; per-carrier limits are below.

We take the safety of your freight seriously. We require our government-permitted partner carriers to keep cargo coverage that meets or exceeds federal and state requirements.

During checkout, FreightProtect™ coverage is automatically applied to your shipment. FreightProtect™ offers 100% reimbursement on the declared value of your freight and a shorter 10 day review period. However, it's also possible to opt out and rely solely on the carrier's insurance. It's important to keep in mind that the carrier's insurance may take up to 120 days to approve or deny claims.

Additionally, Mothership has a cargo liability contingency policy in place to cover your cargo up to the limits listed above in the rare instance a partner carrier accidentally or willingly allowed their coverage to lapse.
